What is the difference between boiler bronze and boiler silver?

Our Boiler Bronze Plan covers you for Boiler Breakdown Cover and includes an Annual Boiler Service, Carbon Monoxide Test & Gas Safety Check.

Our Boiler Silver Plan includes everything the Bronze Plan offers PLUS Central Heating Cover.

What is the difference between boiler silver and boiler gold?

Our Boiler Silver Plan includes Boiler Breakdown Cover, Annual Boiler Service, Central Heating Cover, Carbon Monoxide Test & Gas Safety Check.

Our Boiler Gold Plan offers you everything included in our Boiler Silver Plan PLUS cover for Internal and External Plumbing & Drainage, Electrical Emergency and Breakdown, Pest Control and Home Security.  

How your boiler cover is compared to British Gas Homecare?

Our boiler cover plans are similar to British Gas Homecare packages in the sense that homecare 1, 2 and 4 are similar to our Bronze, Silver, and Gold packages respectively. Having said that, our Gold Plan comes with the added bonus of you getting Home Security and Pest Control included in the plan which is something you do not get in the Homecare 4 package. Most of our customers are ex British Gas or Homeserve customers.

Do you cover all makes and models of boilers?

We cover all popular makes and models of domestic boiler as long as they are wall mounted and natural gas powered. We do not cover Electric boilers, Solid Fuels boiler, Bio Mass boilers, LPG boilers, Oil Boilers, Immersion Heaters, Back Boiler, Floor Standing Boilers, Hot Water Tanks, Warm Air Units, Water Heaters, Rayburn and Aga Boilers.

We can cover, fix, service & repair all major brands, some of the popular brands we cover are Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Viessmann, Ideal, Baxi, Glow-worm, Potterton, Alpha, Intergas, Vokèra and many more. For gas boilers, we do not cover the following models:

My boiler and central heating is very old, will you still cover it?

Yes, We can cover boiler in excess of 15 years of age provided your boiler is powered by natural gas and wall mounted, has no pre-existing faults, has been regularly serviced, and is in good working condition when you sign up. If your boiler is more than 10 years old then we need to apply a mandatory excess. However, feel free to speak with our sales representative on 0333 996 9888 and we will try to answer all your concern.

Is there any money back guarantee?

Every boiler cover purchased is subject to a 14-day cooling off period. This allows the Service Provider and the Customer to cancel the service agreement without any penalty or charges. The 14-day cooling off period commences from the date of inception of cover or receipt of agreement, whichever is sooner.

What will be the renewal price after the first year?

Your renewal price will depend on a few factors such as inflation, claims frequency, operating costs, and length of time on cover. We will notify you about your renewal price in advance.

Would I have to have my boiler serviced before you cover it?

We require your boiler has been serviced every 12 months in line with manufacturer’s and/or Gas Safe recommendations. In the event of a claim, proof of boiler service would be required before any work is carried out. Confirmation of service will only be accepted on the production of a valid service document. If you haven’t had your boiler serviced within the last 12 months, please contact a member of our team and we will arrange a boiler service for you within 28 days.

What is an excess amount and how excess works?

“Excess” means the first amount of each claim, payable by you to the helpline before the Approved Engineer will attend. This payment will be taken by the helpline before Assistance is provided. Payment can be made by way of credit or debit card.

You don't need to pay the excess of annual boiler service, gas safety certificate, and if engineer is attending the same fault again*.

Can I reduce my monthly premium by adding any excess?

You can add an excess to reduce your premium. The higher the excess, the lower the price and vice versa. Currently, we have three options: no excess, £50 excess, and £100 excess. If you choose the £50 or £100 excess your monthly premium will be lower, however you must pay the excess amount each time before the approved engineer will attend.

Can you customize a plan for me by adding or removing few items?

Yes, we can customize our cover plan as per your requirement. We do not charge you for mid-term plan adjustments and can also offer you a completely bespoke quote to match your exact needs.

What is boiler cover? Why do I need boiler breakdown & central heating cover?

Boiler breakdown cover or repair plan, is a service plan or insurance for your boiler in case your boiler breaks down. You pay a set amount, monthly or annually for this cover and if your boiler needs to be fixed, you can call someone out for free – usually without having to wait too long. Most of the boiler cover plan comes with or without an excess. The excess amount is essentially a call out charge for an engineer to attend and diagnose the problem. If you are buying a plan with excess, then your monthly or yearly cost will be low. If you want to but a boiler cover with no excess, then the monthly or yearly cost will be high. It's a good idea to buy a cover with excess for new boilers and without excess for old boilers. Make sure that you are not paying any excess again for the same problem no matter how many times an engineer visit – you should only pay one excess for the same problem! Make sure that you are not paying any excess for your annual boiler service also.

Whether, your boiler is new or old, you should consider signing up for a boiler breakdown cover. Warranty people also offer some exciting boiler breakdown cover plan at very competitive price.

The most obvious benefit of boiler cover is that you won’t be hit with any surprise boiler repair charges. You also won’t have to worry about suddenly finding a reliable gas safe engineer, when your boiler breaks down. If you are thinking of taking out boiler breakdown cover, look carefully at different providers, what’s included in their breakdown cover plan. Check the opening hours of their helpline, how quickly they promise to attend a call out, and what’s actually includes – some basic packages may not include all the parts and labour charges or other things.

Check if there is a limit on how many call-outs you can make in a year, or if there is a cooling off or exclusion period, during which you can’t make any claims. At Warranty People, we have a 14-day exclusion period while many of our competitors have 30 day exclusion period. Which? found that on average, people whose boilers were less than six years old were not likely to need more than two repairs in a year.

How to choose the best boiler breakdown & central heating cover?

When you are considering any boiler breakdown cover company, then you should check that the followings as a minimum to be covered. This will help you to choose and compare the best boiler cover at the cheapest possible price.

  • Free Boiler Annual Service: Boiler annual service is required for the smooth operation of the boiler and to check everything is in good working condition. Annual boiler service usually cost somewhere around £60 to £80. Make sure that your boiler breakdown company is not charging any excess for Annual boiler service. Also, make sure that the free annual boiler service is every year and not only for the first year.
  • Unlimited Callout & Claims: You should check that your boiler cover plan includes unlimited claims and all call out charges are included. If you are buying a plan with an excess to reduce the monthly payment then you need to pay that excess amount (as call out charges) in order to arrange a gas safe engineer visit.
  • Parts & Labour: Check your boiler breakdown cover include parts and labour cost as well and you don't need to pay extra for anything. A usual call out & repair for a boiler breakdown can cost anywhere between £150 to £300. In some cases, it can shoot up to £600-£700 per breakdown.
  • Nationwide Coverage: Check your boiler cover plan provides you the nationwide coverage and they should cover your postal code. Nationwide coverage means they send the engineer near to your locality. Nationwide cover will reduce the time for an engineer to attend your complaint.
  • 24/7 Helpline: This is one of the most important things and you should check that your boiler breakdown cover provider have a 24/7 claim helpline. You should able to reach your boiler breakdown provider anytime to make a claim or to attend a breakdown.
  • Additional Coverage: You can check with your provider that what other items they are covering as a standard with the boiler cover. Some companies cover central heating, plumbing & drainage cover, electrical emergencies, pest control, & home security also. Sometimes you will get all this as a standard in your boiler cover plan and you don’t need to pay anything extra for all this.

You can also choose to get cover only your boiler. Boiler and central heating breakdown plan will cover the whole heating & hot water system, and even for other home emergencies, like plumbing & drainage cover, & electrical emergencies. Please make sure that you are not paying extra for things for which you are already covered by your home insurance company. Some problems – for example, sludge buildup in hot water and heating system generally not covered by any company.

There are some insurance companies out there that provide you the boiler and central heating insurance at a lower price with your home insurance. Please make sure that the company will send an engineer in case of a boiler breakdown. Some companies will only reimburse the cost of repair (with certain limits) and you have to arrange an engineer to repair or fix your boiler in case of a breakdown.

When you will carry out the free annual boiler service?

Provided you have paid your contract fees, we will guarantee that our engineers will conduct one annual service, safety and operational check in any 12-month period. Our engineers will usually carry out this service at around the same time each calendar year. This will depend on their workload and your appointment preference. Service, safety and operational checks (where applicable) will be carried out on an agreed date between the 8th and 12th month after the Commencement Date of your service agreement and will be arranged automatically. If you need your Boiler service and/or CP12 doing sooner, we can organize it in the next 28 days (or sooner depending upon availability) by charging you £60 upfront. To ensure you do not pay more than your annual premium, we will reduce your monthly direct debit amount by £5/month each month. This will result in you paying £60 less across 12 month period to offset the £60 you paid at the start of the membership.
